Series of crosses at the Broad Street United Methodist Church, Columbus, Ohio, 1994-1998, James Mellick. Photo by Lisa Finger, Columbus Dispatch.
These are a series of crosses donated to the church on Easter Sunday over several years. "Black Cross" (right) was the first gift and is constructed entirely of wood scraps from the studio floor. "Twig Cross" (left) is fashioned form boxwood shrub branches outside my home. It was inspired by my friend, Clifton Monteith, famous for his twig furniture. "Dancing Cross" (center) was the most recent and most experimental, and is a cross of celebration.

This is one of my earliest liturgical objects and was done in collaboration with Clark Eberle (deceased) who was the choir director at the church. Clark added the brass fixtures.
