Jim Mellick is a man of many hats as the defacto organizer of Heartwood.
He sings bass/baritone lead, writes songs, plays guitar and gets the
gigs. He is the first to admit that his guitar playing is nothing unusual
but he surrounds himself with very talented people who can achieve the sound
he has in
mind.
Robert Oberst is a "bass maniac", sings tenor, is a composer and the
only one in the trio who has a formal music education. He can pick
up any bass line at a moment's notice and can effortlessly weave from Folk,
to Country, to Jazz, to Blues. He has a bass guitar for every style
he plays.
