BACK

        Suzanne Accetta earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Cincinnati and has been drawing and painting over thirty years. She is a critically acclaimed theatrical set designer and director and is presently on the faculty of the Theatre and Dance Department of Otterbein College.  
        Accetta is best known for the character and expressive feeling that she brings to her figure paintings and portraiture. Her work in watercolor, oil and colored pencil shows her mastery of faces and the human anatomy. She has participated in numerous national juried exhibitions and her paintings are in many collections around the world. Her work has been published in several issues of American Artist Magazine, in the Complete Colored Pencil Book and Who's Who in American Art. Her illustrations have been published nationally and most recently has illustrated three children's books for Continental Press. She is an ideal teacher with a great sense of humor.

        James Mellick earned his Master of Fine Arts with a major in painting from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville in 1973. Prior to grad school he taught Elementary Art for two years. He taught sculpture, printmaking, drawing and design at Colby-Sawyer College, NH (1973-78). He founded the first art major program at Houghton College, NY (1978-81) where he chaired the department and taught painting, sculpture and introduction to art history. He headed the sculpture program and taught drawing and art appreciation at Calvin College, MI (1989-91). He has taught summer workshops at Southern Illinois University and Penland School of Crafts, NC. More recently Mellick has served as an adjunct art faculty at Urbana University, Ohio Northern University and Columbus College of Art and Design, all in Ohio.
        Mellick is best known as a sculptor and master craftsman with wood. Images of his work are published in several international publications, including sculpture textbooks.         Kristin Nortz received a BFA from the Columbus College of Art and Design and an Master of Fine Arts in sculpture from Ohio University. She has taught figurative sculpture, carving and 3D design at Ohio University and Sculpture I at CCAD. She works in a variety of sculptural methods; stone carving and bronze casting being her favorite but she also creates installations and video. Ms. Nortz exhibits her work in the Central Ohio area.

        Melissa Swabb received her BFA from Ohio Northern University.   As a student,  in competition with other young artists across the country, Swabb's talent won a national scholarship from Kappi Pi, an honorary art society.  She has two years experience as a substitute teacher, including one year in the Marysville School District with a long term position in middle school art.  Prior to graduation, during her 2001 summer sculpture apprenticeship with Jim Mellick, Melissa taught ceramics to grade school children at the Houston House of the Marysville Art League.  Her work has been seen in the Fine Arts Exhibit of the Ohio State Fair, the Wassenburg Art League an has recently completed a mural at the Stockyard Steakhouse and Saloon in Marysville.
